The night after this years 2010 Grammy Awards, two of the three original masterminds (Jones, and Richie) got together to re-record We are the World for the 25 aniversary, and now to benifit Haiti. With this new cast, song and video, they oversaw the gathering of more than 70 musical artists at the same Hollywood studio where, 25 years earlier, they had brought together the original set of artists to sing the song.
Artists performing on the new version, none of whom appeared on the original song now include: Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Wyclef Jean, Harry Connick Jr., Kanye West, Miley Cyrus, Tony Bennett, Justin Bieber, Patti Austin, Beach Boys Brian Wilson and Al Jardine, Carlos Santana, Josh Groban, the Jonas Brothers, Jennifer Hudson, Natalie Cole, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Drake, LL Cool J, Nancy Wilson of Heart, Usher, and will.i.am of the Black-Eyed Peas.
According to Reuters, Ms. Streisand sings the part that Diana Ross sang in the original and went through several takes of the line to meet her own personal demand for perfection. Michael Jackson's lines were to be sung by his sister Janet from a studio in Atlanta, but now it is said that Michael will sing his own lines with his sister joining in.
The new "We Are the World" song and video (directed by Paul Haggis (Crash)) is scheduled to make its public debut during the opening ceremonies telecast of the Olympic Games to be broadcast from Vancouver on NBC February 12, 2010.

Michael Jackson is back starring in Disneys Captain E.O.
Eight months after Michael Jackson’s death, Disneyland will unveil “Captain EO Tribute,” a revamped and restored musical adventure attraction. Starring a young Jackson it's regarded as the first "4-D" film, which combines 3-D with in-house theater effects, hence "4-D". Following the success of the “This Is It” concert film, Disney has decided to dust off the 23-year-old Film for a limited engagement at the California theme park. The 17-minute film will be shown in the Tomorrowland theater At Disneyland where it ran for 11 years between 1986 and 1997. “Captain EO” cost an estimated $30 million to make and featured a star-studded list of credits, including executive producer George Lucas, Academy Award-winning director Francis Ford Coppola and Anjelica Huston as the evil Supreme Leader.

The 4-D movie — featuring lasers, smoke and stars that extend into the audience — tells the story of Captain EO (played by Jackson) on a mission to deliver a musical gift to a wicked alien queen on a dystopian planet. EO’s rag-tag crew included his sidekick Fuzzball, security officer Major Domo and blundering shipmate Hooter.
While it's not possible to replicate some special effects elements from the origainal attraction, a new 70 mm print of the film will be shown starting 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 23rd, and will sound "better than ever" thanks to recent audio and acoustic enhancements made to the theater, according to Heather Hust Rivera, print and social media manager of the Disneyland Resort.
There will be a special line set up for park guests who want to be among the first to see the re-released film. Park officials gave no indication on how long "Captain EO" would be running, though it will likely stay as long as it is popular.

This film was the pinnacle of Jackson's acting career, In it the King of Pop plays Darryl, a prep school scholar who goes back to his inner city ghetto, only to be pressured by his old pals to revert back to a life of crime. Officially Michael Jackson is set to be honoured by New York City transit officials with an artistic tribute "a depiction of the video" in the Hoyt-Schermerhorn subway station where it was filmed.
The 18-minute piece filmed in 1987 was written by author Richard Price, and directed by Martin Scorsese. It starred Jackson and Wesley Snipes, was choreographed by Jeffrey Daniel and featured Jackson with a chorus of singers doing an extended a-capella call-and-response vocal. The piece topped video and music charts for several weeks worldwide.
A proposal to rename Brooklyn's Hoyt-Schermerhorn station and erect a plaque in Jackson's honour was rejected last year (09), amid fears commuters would be confused by the name-change.
But now organisers at the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership (DBP) local development corporation have agreed to have a mural designed to highlight the significance of the station in the 18-minute music video. Partnership President Joe Chan confirms: "We see this as a great opportunity to potentially establish Hoyt-Schermerhorn's role in American pop culture and as a tourist destination to attract people to a part of Downtown Brooklyn already rapidly growing."
DBP has yet to select the artist who will create the mural, which will replace the subway station's blank facade. The art could be huge and possibly rely on lights and projection at night time. A touching tribute to Jackson's profound legacy.
